Commercial Truck Insurance Policyholders, Be Ready for An Inspection Blitz
Snyder Insurance and Financial Services is getting the word out to our commercial truck insurance policyholders about International Roadcheck 2015, the annual inspection blitz of commercial vehicles scheduled for June 2-4, 2015.
The 72-hour event — a joint effort by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration — will station 10,000 inspectors from state, local and federal enforcement agencies at over 1,500 checkpoints nationwide to conduct 37-step Level I inspections on trucks and buses. Officials estimate that 70,000 inspections will occur over the 72-hour period. In addition to Level 1 violations, officials will also be inspecting vehicles for cargo securement.
In 2014, Roadcheck inspections were performed on 72,000 vehicles, resulting in a vehicle out-of-service rate of 18.7 percent and a driver out-of-service rate of 4.8 percent. The CVSA estimates that drivers taken out-of-service incur an average $861 in costs, not including the fines or repairs that result from the inspection.
